The French Sensation Controlling Midfield at Lyon
Tanguy Ndombele has attracted the interest of lots of clubs in Europe, it seems that everybody will be in for him in the summer!
I haven’t watched much of Lyon outside of the Champions League, but he seemed very comfortable in the 1st leg vs Barcelona, so if that’s anything to go by, he’s decent!
Tanguy joined Lyon on the 1st July 2018, he was given a contract extension less than 60 days later. This shows me that OL knew what kind of a player they had in their ranks, which is a squad full of young talent.
I think Lyon know they won’t ever be able to fully compete with Paris St Germain, the money club of the league. However, they can make substantial profits, year on year, from their player development process.
Having signed Tanguy Ndombele for just £7m, I wouldn’t be too shocked to see him earn lyon 1000% Profit on him alone.
Let’s start things off with the transfer links. There is a huge list of clubs which are rumoured to be interested. Now, I am not a journalist, so I cannot confirm these rumours, but usually (unless it’s Sky Bet), when it’s in the media, it’s not made up. It could be as simple as a club scout attending the game, or a formal enquiry having been made.
It may sound silly at first, but things do get leaked. In fact, if you’re following the right people on twitter, you can get Team News up to 24 hrs in advance of a Premier League game!
Clubs Interested; Arsenal, Juventus, Liverpool, Man City, Man Utd, PSG, Real Madrid, Tottenham Hotspur.
Some media outlets have actually already broken the news that clubs have agreed personal terms with the player, but a transfer fee with Lyon not yet agreed.
I think he is a match made in heaven for Spurs, who are missing Moussa Dembele. Tanguy is better than Dembele.
If Eriksen leaves also, Spurs fans won’t accept another year with mediocre/no signings at all.
The problem for Spurs is that Real Madrid have had their worst season in quite a while & Zidane is being given a war-chest to revamp the whole squad.
He is said to be an admirer of fellow Frenchman Ndombele.
Life at Lyon
I am happy to stay at Lyon for one more season
Tanguy Ndombele on Football Index
I am not sure that Ndombele is a good Football Index hold. This is for Lyon, so it may be completely different at an alternative club.
The reason for this is his 86 average Performance Buzz score. It’s just not enough to push for a steady stream of dividends. In fact, he has earnt £0.00 in dividends since Football Index began.
Analysing his Performance, he has actually managed a 200, 198 & 176 as Match Day Scores, yet not won dividends. He seems to score <80 more times than he scores over 120, which means he doesn’t really have a chance of dividends at Lyon.
He’s not a big goal scorer, so this is probably why he is allergic to dividends!
In 46 appearances, he has scored 2 goals and assisted 7. For the role he has in the side, this is a good output for his team, but not if you’re a holder on Football Index.
As I say though, this could all change at his new club.
He’s only 22 years old, so don’t think for a minute this is his ‘final form’, he has plenty left to offer.
Lyon are my favourite foreign club, due to their exciting youth talent & attack at all costs playstyle.
Tanguy Ndombele isn’t a direct result of their youth, having started out at Guingamp U19’s, where he was released.
3 years after being released, he joined Lyon on loan, who paid £1.8 million to take him on loan.
Lyon were impressed, paying £7m in July 2018. He’s now worth around £70m.
I’ll be honest and say although he has the potential to be one of the next midfield greats, his playstyle isn’t 100% suited to the Performance Buzz matrix. This has to be backed up by the fact he hasn’t yet earnt any dividends.
