Cristiano Ronaldo is a fantastic football, undoubtedly one of the best players many of us will see grace a football pitch with his talent.
However, I can’t see many reasons to invest in this player outside of the summer transfer window! I will detail my reasoning below, but in short, I can’t see this player obtaining consistent media buzz OR performance buzz dividends.
Ballon D'or Winner
Ronaldo has won the Ballon D’or multiple times, beating Messi for the last few years. This he has pure class.
Can Independently Change Games
He has the capability to turn games around on his own, giving potential for mass Performance Buzz.
Media Love Him
Media love CR7, often creating articles linking him back to Man Utd.
There is a concern with his age, being 32 means he’s close to retirement.
Potential Reasons to Avoid
You only need to watch one game for Real Madrid & you will notice Ronaldo doesn’t really adopt a Team Mentality.
He likes to be the focal point of the attack, his main contribution being to finish the chances his teammates create, and he scores a great deal of goals!
The main issue we have seen in the last few weeks is that scoring goals won’t be enough to put you at the top of the Performance Buzz list. Unless you score around 8 goals!
Ronaldo doesn’t track back, rarely wins the ball back sometimes he just fades into the background before popping up with a match winning goal. This means that ultimately, he’s not doing enough to accumulate Buzz points. Comparing him to Messi, who helps out the team, picking the ball up deep and playing multiple passes, there’s no competition! In fact, as Ronaldo has recently taken a central role, it means he may also contribute less due to assists, as Bale, Asensio & Isco will be in charge of whipping the balls in the box.
Ronaldo has more chance of earning dividends via Media Buzz, but he’s not been in the media eye recently and he hasn’t scored many buzz wins at all! He was recently In the media eye for pushing a referee & also for avoiding tax, stating he wanted to go to back to England. This caused a few papers to write a few stories, but it was pure speculation and probably a tactic deployed to get Real Madrid to help him out.
There’s no denying Ronaldo is a great player who will score many goals, if you were betting on him to score, you’d win a lot of the time, but Football Index isn’t solely based on goals. You need a lot more! He will have a couple of crazy games over the course of the season, but you need to ask is a couple of dividends payout worth a £5.41 share price? Especially at the tender age of 32!
It’s hard not to put Ronaldo in your portfolio, as he is such a fantastic player!
He is now 32 years old, although he is a physical specimen with plenty of offer, it’s without doubt that he will start slowing down soon.
This will impact his share price and potential returns for dividends.
As traders will be wary of his age, if any news comes out that he’s even considering retirement, his share price will plummet.
This is another reason why Messi commands a price of £8, compared to Ronaldo at £5.41.
Age also causes increased tendency to get injured, so this would affect his opportunities for Performance Buzz.
It will be a sad day when we notice Ronaldo losing what he has, but there are plenty of players who are willing to step up.
