Neuer closely beats Courtois in my opinion. It’s not easy scoring a goalkeeper for Performance Buzz and honestly the goalkeepers aren’t very valuable, as they are in the same category as defenders. It’s much easier for a defender to win the Performance Buzz.
I have chosen Neuer, as we need a goalkeeper and he will be able to earn good points as he operates as a sweeper keeper. As he plays so far up the pitch, he can gain a good few points for passes and assists. He can also rack up tackle points, as he comes storming off hi line regularly to smash the ball & a defender out of the way!
The only drawback to his play style is that he may pick up a few yellow cards with his aggressive rushing & due to the nature of sweeper keepers, they don’t always keep a clean sheet! They do however usually rack up the full 90 minutes!
Note, you don’t need a goalkeeper, I just didn’t see it as ethical putting Messi in goal, I wanted to show my opinion on the best player in each position.
Alex Sandro is a great Brazillian left back. Being from Brazil means he isn’t afraid of going forward, it’s something in their blood!
He was tipped to be as great as Roberto Carlos, back when he was at Porto. Barcelona wanted to sign him, but with Eric Abidal and Jordi Alba in their ranks, he wasn’t guaranteed first team football. He went on to sign for Juventus and has been a key player for them.
His performance stats on Who Scored have him ranked as the number 1 left back in the world, but this isn’t due to his defensive work! He basically plays as a Left Winger, he earns his points at the attacking end of the pitch!
He is a major contributor to the build up play, which allows him to score points at will. Also, as Juventus don’t have too many big teams in Serie A, they will be taking Clean Sheet Bonus points too!
My Second option for this position was Marcos Alonso of Chelsea, but due to the fact the Premier League is a tougher competition and he costs more, I opted for the cheaper, better player!
John Stones is a real work in progress, but Pep Guardiola has set him as the focal point of the build up play. Man City love to play out from the back, this instantly adds value to all of their players as they would be racking up points like crazy, for moving the ball around.
Also, they are defensively sound this season, this means he will also benefit from the Clean Sheet Bonus points on a handful of occasions.
He has also taken performance buzz by storm this year, he has already won it three times and has the highest score of all the players so far!
Thiago Silva has to be in the portfolio for any trader who wants to earn Performance Buzz dividends.
If you watch one game for PSG, you will see why! Defensively, he is too strong and powerful in a weak league, there aren’t many players in the Ligue 1 that possess much physical presence, so Silva will naturally win tackles and break up play.
Not only this, he has the skills to run through defences and has done on multiple occasions! His Brazilian blood hasn’t let him down there!
Silva is a superhuman defender in a weak league, PSG will be nailed on to win every game & they shouldn’t be conceding many goals, hence my selection here.
Another PSG star. For performance buzz, it’s highly predictable for who will perform consistently, good players in bad leagues!
In the Premier League, you can’t ever be sure of who’s going to win, Burnley can turn up and put Liverpool down, whereas you won’t often see Metz FC beat PSG.
Good players being in poor leagues mean they can easily dominate, as they have more creative freedom & tend to rack up points.
Dani Alves is a great defender, tackling, clean sheets, passing, assists & goals will propel his performance buzz scores. If he was in the Premier League, I probably wouldn’t have selected him on this list, but he’s in a weaker league it’s a lot more predictable!
My second choice would probably be Seamus Coleman, although he’s injured for quite a while!
I promise this won’t be a PSG full 11!
Verratti is the key in midfield for the French Ligue 1 team, everything runs through this chap!
Comparing his stats to last season, there’s only one man that comes close to his scores. This player partners him in my PB XI, Rakitic.
Verratti does have a ‘hot streak’ about him and likes a tackle, but his scores even with yellow cards have been very high.
Now we turn to the engine for Real Madrid, Kroos.
Kroos is not afraid of scoring, with plenty of 30 yard screamers to his name!
He currently has the highest average points per game for Midfielders on the index, which shows when he plays, he means serious business!
The great thing about holding Verratti & Kroos is that although they are both competing for the same position, they rarely play on the same day, meaning you actually increase your chances for dividends!
Rakitic is an impressive midfielder for Barcelona, who will generate many passing points due to Barcelona’s play style.
With Messi, Suarez and Co. up front, a lot of these passes will turn to ‘assists’, causing an increased Performance Buzz score!
My midfield three of Rakitic, Kroos, Verratti are complete engines, playing in less competitive leagues, meaning performance buzz scores will be achieved easier.
Alternate choices were: Eriksen, Pogba & Arturo Vidal, but the leagues are more competitive, so I opted for the initial three.
KDB is benefiting a great deal from Pep’s style of play. It’s clear to see already that Kevin is a major part of Man City’s build up play, which means points, points, points!
I was torn with this one between him and James Rodriguez, but there is immense competition for places at Bayern.
Lewandowski is a sure-starter, but that leaves:
James, T. Alacantra, Tolisso, Kimmich, Robben, Ribery, Muller, Coman as options.
There are some big names on that squad list, so to keep them all happy, they all need game time! This means your player isn’t guaranteed to start. (I know no player is guaranteed, but some sure are more predictable than others. Secondly, there will be lots of subs for this position, so there’s a great chance your player won’t rack up a full game.
Messi has hit the Performance Buzz ground running, racking up multiple Best Forward dividends and also 2 x Star player dividends. We are only 1 month into Performance Buzz!
He’s the main man for Barcelona, for Performance Buzz he is probably the first name on many traders list. He starts the build up play, racking up multiple passes, but then finishes the opportunities he carves out!
He can knock in a hat-trick like it’s a walk in the park, as Barcelona mainly play on Sundays there’s much less competition too, so he’s in with a great chance of earning Performance buzz every time he plays.
There’s a reason he’s the first £8 player! Although you may have read the post, there are multiple reasons I won’t be investing in him at this price.
One thing is for sure, he will rack up Performance Buzz Dividends.
Dybala is such an exciting player to watch!
Multiple times I have watched him independently turn a game from a boring 0-0, to a 3-0 win to Juventus! This example was last week, his performance completely mesmerised me!
I’m certain he will follow on to succeed Messi as the G.O.A.T, he’s certainly on the correct path!
In fact, he’s not far behind him this season, Messi average score per minute is 2.23, Dybala is 2.21.
My advice for choosing your best eleven would be to choose players that are catalysts for their teams, always included in the build up play & also know where the back of the net is!
This brings my PB XI to an end, there are multiple players who I would have liked to add, so they will be added to my virtual 11.
SUBS: Neymar, Arturo Vidal, Thiago Alacantra, Sadio Mane & Mo Salah
Neymar is the only one I will comment on at this time. He would have been nailed on for the starting eleven, however, with the arrival of Mbappe, I believe this cut the chances of him winning Performance Buzz drastically. In that team, it’s a toss of a coin between Neymar, Mbappe & Cavani as to who wins Best Forward!
Wait… That would require a three sided coin…
